Rusty

Rusty is a 9-year-old 14.3 deep sorrel Missouri Foxtrotter gelding. He’s a very friendly horse that loves people and always comes to greet me at the gate or fence when he sees me. Easy to catch and has great ground manners, stands quiet for grooming, tacking up, farrier, bathing, and loads easily. My farrier has commented on the quality of his hooves and manners.
He’s a great trail horse with many miles of trail experience, weekend and week-long camping trips. We mostly ride in Southern IL Shawnee National forest where he has seen all wildlife and has gone through everything, water, mud, logs, bridges, steep inclines, and always goes with no problems. He has a ground covering walk and goes into a flat walk or foxtrot with just a smooch. He does have a pretty nice lope, but I don’t do it on the trail because he has such a great gate and easy to keep in it. Rides on a loose rein, you don’t have to know how to ride a gaited horse to get him to gait. Intermediate and advanced riders have ridden him with no problems. He rides out alone or with a group.
He’s in excellent condition, built like a quarter horse with a pretty head and kind eye. No health issues or maintenance, fully up to date with vaccinations, teeth were floated last fall, easy keeper and gets along with other horses on the trail and in the pasture,
Been exposed to traffic and been around farm equipment, golf carts, bicycles, dogs, cats, and ATVs. Looking for a good home, he will make someone a great riding buddy. Thanks for checking Rusty out.
