Who doesn’t love a powerhouse of a trail horse?? But what if you could get so much more for your money?? Say hello to Nena, this conformationally correct mare has been part of the herd for half of her life now so you can bid confidently knowing that we’ve got some history here. Nena stands 15.1 hands, weighs in at 1250 pounds and she clearly missed the memo on fancy coloring, but she makes up for that tenfold in heart and try.

This sweet and sensitive mare acts like one of the geldings and is a true all around contender with a great foundation. In the roping arena Nena is comfortable working both ends, though she does have more experience on the head side. Indoors or outside, it makes no difference to her. She is quiet in the box and will put you where you need to be. In the branding pen she will sort, push, drag and stand quietly with no fussing. If horse camping is your thing, you’ll be glad to know that she is sure footed even in the roughest terrain, whether she is undersaddle or being used to pack camp. She has been exposed to all sorts of wildlife and obstacles and as any good camping horse should, she will stand tied at the high line and is hobble broke. Whether you’re overnighting with friends or trekking into the wilderness for weeks at a time, she will be there for you with no hesitation. For the trail riders, you’ll appreciate that she rides out alone or in a group and is consistent whether she’s in the lead, middle or bringing up the rear. Nena’s resume includes many miles on the trail, from the unforgiving Colorado high country to the rugged AZ desert and she tackles it all with no complaints. The best part though is that she can cover some ground and she’s super smooth while doing it. This is coming from someone who normally rides gaited horses!!

Additionally, she ground ties, is safe in/around traffic, she is soft in the bridle, is responsive to leg cues and loads/hauls well. Nena also stands well for the vet/farrier and ATV’s, motorcycles, dogs, flags, banners, crowds etc. don’t phase her.

The buyer is solely responsible for pickup/transportation within 10 days of auction close and board can be arranged thereafter. 10% of the purchase price must be sent at the close of the auction and the remaining balance is to be wire transferred by the end of the following business day.
