Trax In The Sand (aka – Sparky)
Sparky has various skills, including a rhythmic head-nodding stride; smooth transitions; side pass; collected walk, flatfoot walk, running walk, foxtrot and canter; backs up willingly; bows; loads and loads unloads willingly; stands quietly on crossties and for the farrier. Sparky is a 12-year-old registered Missouri Fox Trotting gelding. Sparky was born and raised on my farm and was to be my forever trail and play horse until medical issues have made it very difficult for me to ride. Sparky will be a joy for the new owner and take him wherever he’s asked and can go all day.

*Color – Sparky is a beautiful chestnut sorrel roan with a blaze that continues to the lower lip and chin, a left rear full stocking, and a flaxen mane and tail. As his name implies, he sparkles in the sunshine.
*Conformation – Spot on the conformation standards of the Missouri Fix Trotting Horse Breed Association. (See video and pictures)
*Gait – Sparky has wonderful, rhythmic head nodding and smooth gaits. His collected walk, flat foot walk, running walk, foxtrot and canter are easy to sit for long hours in the saddle. He has easy, smooth transitions and backs easily when asked.
*Temperament – Easy-going and willing to do whatever he is asked to do.
Experience – He has experienced many trails in Missouri, been exposed to every possible environment, and rides well with large or small groups. He has never been in the show ring, but he is talented enough to show in performance or versatility. It would not take much more work to have him tuned into cattle work.
*Training – Expertly trained by Shawn Sublett. He was to be my trail and play horse until medical problems prevented me from being able to ride very much. Shawn Sublett is a well-known trainer of Missouri Fox Trotting horses for show, trail riding, and equine companions. His training methods include natural horsemanship training, training to develop the correct and natural gaits for each horse, and sensitivity training for almost every environment the horse will see in their lifetime. Shawn also uses Spanish horse training methods that go back hundreds of years and are still used today to train Spanish performance horses worldwide.
*Suitability for Riders – Shawn has trained him to be an honest and fun horse for people to enjoy. As a result, Sparky will be suitable even for a beginner who is willing to take lessons with a professional equine trainer to learn to communicate with a well-trained horse using the correct aids. For an experienced horse person, Sparky will provide the best first ride they have ever experienced and could remain their riding horse for the rest of their life.

*Pedigree – His sire, “Missouri’s Final Attraction” (known as Trax), was Reserve Three Year Old Futurity Champion (winning his preliminary class). He won his preliminary class in the Breeder’s Cup Amateur 3 Year Old and was the Reserve Breeder’s Cup Amateur 3 Year Old. Trax was Reserve Amateur World Grand Champion 3-Year-Old. I rode him to an Amateur Reserve World Championship as a 4-year-old. The next year he was Reserve Open World Champion 5 Years and Older and Reserve Open World Grand Champion 5 Years and Over. At 6 years old, he was Amateur World Grand Champion Model Stallions and Geldings. When his show career was over, I started using Trax for cattle sorting, which he picked up quickly and excelled at. Trax In The sand was the last foal out of Missouri’s Final Attraction that was raised on my farm. His dam was Sensation’s Betty Jane. An own daughter of Merry Boy Sensation, she produced many talented offspring who had great show careers. Trax In The Sand was to be her last foal. Sensation’s Betty Jane has Mr. Koscot, Warren’s Merry Boy, and Roger’s Merry Go Boy in her pedigree which gives him such a smooth reaching stride.
