Description:

Bertha & Bertie – 9 & 10 yo bay molly mules- CONSIGNED AS A PAIR

Versatile, beautiful team of mollies that drive, pack, and ride! Bertha & Bertie are the whole package, they are gentle, kind, and a well-matched pair of sisters. Bertha is the taller of the pair standing 15.0 hands, Bertie stands 14.2 hands. They have great feet and go barefoot extremely well. They are sound, clean-legged, with no scars or blemishes. Both bathe and clip well, and love to be groomed. Bertha and Bertie are easily caught and stand tied well. Both mules load on the trailer and haul quietly. They have been stalled and do not have any stall vices. They commonly live on pasture, coexisting peacefully with other mules, horses, ponies, and donkeys.

These girls were raised and trained by the Amish in the Midwest. They have pulled all types of farm equipment, wheeled vehicles, and skid logs. This team has mowed hay, plowed fields, and been used in a variety of farm wagons, as well as in the buggy. They have been driven on paved roads and in traffic. Both mules stand excellent to harness and are easy to hook and unhook from the wagon. They respond well to voice commands to turn, stop, back and pull. This team pulls well together and are a strong pair. Bertha and Bertie drive off excellent even after long layoffs. They are a fun, seasoned driving pair!

Bertha and Bertie have been packed and function perfectly together, or in a larger string. They stand well to saddle and load. They have been on hunting trips and have been exposed to gunfire. Both mules easily cross bridges, carefully navigate water crossings and step over down timber. They are smooth, fast walkers and can cover a lot of ground.

This team has also been ridden on trail rides and hunting trips in the mountains. Both mules are willing riders with no vices. They saddle and bridle well. They have carried a variety of riders from beginners to more experienced horsemen. They are not best suited for true beginner riders because they have only basic saddle training, however, they are safe. They have been ridden the most on group rides, together. Bertie is more of a leader under the saddle, and while Bertha will lead, she is happiest following Bertie. Bertie is building on neck reining skills, while Bertha plow reins best. Both mules willingly cross water and bridges. They accept a britchen or crouper.
