Dr. Robin Langerhans has her doctorate in physical therapy, she is the founder and Executive Director of Making Strides of Virginia (www.MakingStridesofVirginia.org) providing therapeutic riding and driving services to those with special needs and the Owner and CEO of Brandywine Valley Consultants Inc. providing hippotherapy services. She is a certified riding instructor through Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA) and an American Hippotherapy Association (AHA) Registered Therapist in hippotherapy.
All the horses owned participate in therapeutic riding (a recreational horseback riding lesson adapted to individuals with disabilities) and hippotherapy. Hippotherapy is implemented by a professional therapist (occupational therapist, physical therapist, or speech language pathologist) in conjunction with a competent horse handler and a specially screened and trained therapy horse.
All horses used for therapeutic riding and hippotherapy instruction have been screened to make sure they have the appropriate temperament for this job. In addition to participation in the program all horses are trail ridden extensively to provide them with a well-rounded attitude. Several horses also drive and are safe for those with disabilities learning these recreational activities. It is all about the horse’s demeanor and attitude!
Thank you,
Dr. Robin Langerhans – PT, DPT
