About Vanessa P Sturgill

I have been raised around Quarter horses and Thoroughbred horses all my life. My grandparents Blair and Nancy Folck founded the Ohio Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus, Ohio. This is the world’s largest Quarter Horse Show that takes place every year for the whole month of October where people come from all around the world to show competitively. My grandfather Blair Folck was given an award for this and is in the Hall Of Fame. I am very proud of what my family has accomplished in my lifetime! I grew up with my father manager of several big Thoroughbred Farms such as Warnerton Farm, Walmac Farm and Seahorse Farm all very successful operations. I worked for my grandparents at their Quarter horse farm and under my father Don Alspaugh at the thoroughbred farms showing, grooming, prepping thoroughbred sale horses, caring for mares, foals and delivering to the breeding sheds to top stallions in the thoroughbred industry. I also worked under John T. Ward at Calumet Farm caring, doctoring, grooming, hot walking and swimming injured racehorses while healing from their injuries rehabilitating them, to go back to the racetrack. I got into the gaited hoses in 1989 and shortly after started breaking trail horses for pleasure from about 1990 – 2007. Then I chose to stop breaking horses for the public and friends. I then decided after that to only break horses that I raised myself as a hobby. I now have my son to break my 2yr old fillies and colts. I am getting older and my breaking young colts days are over. I now ride strictly for pleasure!
