Rebecca M. Smith has spent most of her life around horses — from owning and leasing to currently caring for four Rocky Mountain Horses. One of her greatest accomplishments has been raising and training a colt from birth. After foaling, imprinting, and years of dedicated work, he is now a well-started, trained four-year-old and a true pleasure to ride.
With sadness, Rebecca has decided to part with Shadow, a sweet and beloved horse, as time and responsibilities make it difficult to properly care for four horses. Her goal is to ultimately keep two while ensuring the others find caring homes.
Rebecca has also worked closely with respected horsemen Layne Wingfield and his father, Richie Wingfield, a John Lyons Certified Trainer, who worked with the horses prior to her purchasing them. Shadow is currently in Kentucky, where Layne continues riding and working with her to help prepare her for her forever home.
One of Shadow’s strongest qualities is her outstanding breeding and impressive papers, making her an exceptional representative of the Rocky Mountain Horse breed in both pedigree and disposition.
Throughout her life, Rebecca has balanced her passion for horses alongside a full-time career, working with the same leader for 48 years, raising three children, and earning her Bachelor of Science degree along the way. Life has brought many interesting people, places, and experiences, but through it all, horses have remained a constant and faithful companion. To Rebecca, they are truly wonderful creatures.
