The Missouri Fox Trotter is a true American-made breed, developed in the rugged Ozark Mountains where settlers needed a horse that could comfortably cover long distances over rough country while remaining sure-footed, sensible, and dependable. That heritage is still easy to recognize today—and Travelers Royal is a tremendous example of what the breed was made to be.

Royal is a beautifully built, substantial horse with the kind of bone, foot, muscle, and overall structure that gives you confidence when you climb aboard. He has enough size and substance to carry a rider comfortably all day, while still being athletic, balanced, and handy. When asked to lope, Royal steps right into a beautiful, balanced lope and circles around very nicely. He also has a good one-handed neck rein, making him enjoyable and uncomplicated to ride.

Out on the trail is where Royal really shines. Point his head toward it and he’ll handle it. He has the experience and confidence to negotiate steep hills, rocky trails, creeks, mud, logs, ditches, downed timber, narrow paths, and rough country.
