Allow me to introduce Stormy, a grade Rocky Mountain mare. She’s 14 hands tall and nine years old. She’s built thick and has enough mane for two. Stormy will meet you anywhere in the pasture and always wants attention. She stands for you to mount or dismount, with or without a mounting block. She was ridden by an elderly lady most of her life. With that being said, she is not for a true beginner. She does need someone with a little knowledge. We have had her on various trails, through rivers, and in the woods. She is very sure-footed when going over logs and through rocky terrain. None of these sights have bothered her. She’s not a spooky horse. If she sees something that she’s unsure of, she’ll look at it and then walk on. Crossing water is no problem; she doesn’t care when it gets deeper. Tractors, side-by-sides, and vehicles don’t bother her any. She’s mainly been ridden with others. She’ll go in front or behind. But she will ride off by herself too. Stormy pays no attention to the dogs and will ride through cattle with no hesitation. She’s very willing to go where you ask. She will cover the ground but will also walk quietly with someone. She’s been in the pasture with mares and geldings and gets along with everyone. If you’re looking for a nice smooth ride, Stormy may be your girl.
