This gelding has done the real work. He’s pushed cattle, checked fence lines, been part of brandings, and logged miles of ranch and trail terrain. He’s had a rope thrown off him, navigated rough country, and been exposed to just about everything imaginable — from loud vehicles and tarps to strollers and dogs. He handles pressure and unpredictability with confidence and a clear mind.
Under saddle, Squidward is a joy to ride. He has a finished neck rein, a smooth walk-jog-lope, and a snappy rollback. He stops off your seat and voice, backs easily, sidepasses, and moves off leg with hardly any cue. He’s broke and responsive but not overreactive — a perfect balance of feel and reliability. He’s also been ridden bridleless and bareback down the highway and through intense wind — nothing phases him.
