Description:

Monte is one great horse. Not only is he going to make you look good going down the trail, but if you’re interested in trail obstacle competition, he’s your boy!.

Exposed here on our ranch in Arizona to many obstacles he might encounter in everyday life and then some. He loves getting a bath and doesn’t move an inch. Apples! yes, he likes apples what horse does not. Handles well on the ground and in the saddle. He has a job to do and he just does it. He’s very independent so he leaves the ranch without a problem. No calling out to other horses and acts like a true gelding..He’s in no rush unless you ask him. He came to me from Kentucky where he rode on roads and trails most of his life. He seems to have a lot of professional handling. No funny business with him and no bad habits. When it comes to shots, farrier, and worming he takes it very well. All up to date on everything and will be getting new shoes this week…He has nice hard hooves that hold on to shoes and gets reset every seven weeks. Just light flat shoes are all he needs to gait down the road. The video tells you a lot about him. He is constantly exposed to construction vehicles going in and out along with construction materials laying around trailers being moved here and there, Many of the things we did for the video were first-time exposures like the motorhome and getting that close to the garbage truck and crossing the busy road. Around the neighborhood, he will see garbage cans, flags, and an occasional balloon. Not to mention the UPS truck and mailman. No problems with dogs, and my daughter even chased a coyote out of the yard on him. I’m sure he is capable of much more than we have done with him. We are not close to a water source to take him through but what little rain we got this winter did make a mud puddle or two and he went right through the middle with no hesitation. The rider on the video is 5 ft 2 inches to give you a reference on his height which is around 15,1 hands, He has never taken a lame step or coliced since we have had him. Monte will be missed but he needs someone that will ride him more than we have. Barrel racing is my daughter’s style so we are looking for a new barrel horse and I am not physically capable of riding right now.

Monte is one of the better-gaited horses I have owned over the yrs. At the age of 15 and in really good health and condition, he has been there, done that, and is ready for his new rider to take him on great adventures.
