Montana is an absolutely stunning Dark Palomino Tennessee Walking Horse standing a stout 15.3 HH and the perfect age of 10 years old. She is an experienced trail horse that has been used her entire life, mostly by a young lady but also doesn’t mind letting guest ride as well. She has been on multiple camping trips in Big South Fork and several group rides. We have been personally trail-riding Montana the majority of this year in the rugged trails we have in Southeastern Kentucky, and she’s a horse that truly loves her job; it doesn’t matter how rough they get. She is sure-footed and will pick her way through the slippery rocks & hills we have!
Montana has been shown at local fun horse shows along with being ridden in town. She adjusted to new things wonderfully. Since owning Montana, we have introduced her to several new things like working cattle and being ridden along country roads where she will encounter just about anything imaginable; you can even trail ride her with ATVs. She’s an intelligent horse, always willing to learn new things.
Montana absolutely loves attention, whether it be petting, grooming, or braiding her long mane.
Montana has a naturally smooth gait that is easy to control, and she will flatfoot walk on a loose rein as well.
We have personally trail-ridden Montana several miles in trails by herself and with a group of friends; She does great and acts the same with either! She will cross downed trees cut up, water, ditches & the rocky steep terrains that we have here in Southeastern Kentucky, taking her time with every step, completely trusting the rider to guide the way, and always taking care of her rider. She’s been ridden along the country roads around our home, where she has encountered about anything imaginable like farm equipment, other livestock running alongside the road(cows, horses, goats jumping around), dogs running out barking, loud vehicles passing, ATVs. She is well behaved, getting a haircut, taking baths, tacking up, loading & unloading in a trailer, and being shod (has four new kegs all around).
All of our horses are checked out by a Veterinarian being Current with Negative Coggins, Health Certificate, Basic Vaccines(5-way+West Nile, Tetanus, Strangles, Rabies)
New Shoes with traction (we have to put shoes on our trail horses in Kentucky with our rugged terrain)
We spend time with our horses training them with natural horsemanship methods creating a human-animal relationship with respect and trust from our horses!
NO bad habits/vice we have ever seen out of her NO (rearing up, kicking, bucking, biting, barn weaving, cribbing, or barn/buddy sour). These types of issues with horses never make it to our program!
While Montana is consigned to Auction, anyone interested can come out to our farm to meet and trail ride her. Call today and schedule to take this gal out on a real trail ride with us. We can leave directly from our farm & go into a part of the Daniel Boone National Forest!
