Description:
Aurora is a 10-year-old, 15.3hh, registered Tennessee Walking Horse mare. She would be the best fit with a quiet female rider, intermediate to advanced skill level.
Naturally gaited, VERY SMOOTH, has never taken a pacey or Trotty step. She has a flat walk, running walk, and will move out at the rider’s speed preference. Will dog walk but prefers to gait everywhere. She has a very fun and easy-to-sit canter!
Very forward, can go all day, will go over or through anything you ask, more go than whoa. Solid and sensitive, very responsive to rider cues and voice commands. Intelligent and willing with the right partner, she prefers to be asked than told what to do. She retains what she’s taught.
She would make an excellent endurance mount. She has not competed; however, she has ridden the same trails as competitors as a Safety Horse in multiple AERC and NATRC long-distance events.
She’s an expert camper in remote locations with electric fences and designated campgrounds with portable or permanent corrals. Very respectful of any enclosure. She has been hauled all over Colorado, Arizona, and South Dakota.
She loves having a job and will ride anywhere in the line, lead, middle or end but prefers to lead. She will leave the barn without issue; she is not barn sour or buddy sour.
Trailers perfectly, loads herself, unloads respectfully. She is used to a trailer with an attached ramp.
She’s used to living around a farm and is familiar with cows, equipment, dogs, donkeys, and miniature horses. Not spooky and adjusts well to varied environments.
Is used to seeing a variety of wildlife: elk, deer, turkey, snakes, fox, and free-range cows.
Stands perfectly for both farrier and vet. Stands cross-tied for farrier, hot shod every six weeks.
Knows the Pick-Me-Up for mounting.
Ponies and other horses can be ponied from another horse, an ATV, an electric club car, and the back of a vehicle.
Crosses bridges and water. Can ride in large groups, small groups, or alone.
Not a dominant mare, not marish, very passive. No bite, no kick. No buck, rear, or bolt. Not spooky.
Easy keeper, requires no special care. No lameness or health issues.
Has always had tack and saddles professionally fit.
Had one foal before our ownership of her.
Microchipped, UTD on vaccines and Coggins. Floated her teeth in the summer of 2021.
Aurora has been my mother’s primary horse for the past four years, they are incredibly bonded, and she is only being sold due to the rider’s health issues.
