Chism is a 6-year-old Shetland paint gelding. He has been trained on our working cattle ranch, which has allowed him to become a well-rounded and highly skilled pony. He is used on our ranch almost daily to complete many tasks, a few of them being: range riding in steep mountain country, moving, working, doctoring, sorting, and branding cattle. He has been used to pull a cart and sled, rodeo, ride through parades, pleasure ride, and much more. He has been raised around children, traffic, and other animals, so he is not bothered by these. At the same time that he is calm and well mannered, he is tough and a great tool to get work done. He outrides our full-sized horses when riding range, putting in full days without any trouble. Chism has never foundered and has excellent feet. The ranch owner is a trained farrier, and Chisum’s feet have been well cared for. He is easy to catch, easy to trim, easy to saddle, easy to load – just an all-around outstanding pony.
