Description: Chester is a coming 4 year old Curly Missouri Fox Trotter. Chester is one of only a few hundred registered Curly Missouri Fox Trotters. They are still quite rare.
Chester is currently registered with the MFTBA, but you can also register him with the ICHO and ABC registry. He is not the result of a cross between a Bashkir Curly and a Fox Trotter. The curly gene in Fox Trotters originates from a gaited curly stud of unknown ancestry named Curly Jim. Curly Jim was bred to only a handful of mares, so his descendants are few and far between. Most Curly Fox Trotters are descendants of Walker’s Prince T and are distantly related to Curly Jim.
He is as curly and personable as they come. What I love most about Chester is that he is a people pleaser and loves to snuggle and hang out. He is a dominant curly and has a thick double mane. His coat stays curly year round. He is also hypoallergenic. Chances are, if you are allergic to horses, you are not allergic to Chester. Curly horses lack a protein in their coats that typically triggers allergic reactions.
Chester has seen and done a lot in his young age. He has been desensitized to just about everything we could think of including tarps, whips, loud noises, guns, aggressive dogs, vehicles- you name it, he’s probably seen it! He is a respectful, willing partner that will do anything you ask of him.
He has been through Clinton Anderson’s fundamentals. He knows his groundwork including lunging, lining up to be mounted, laying down, laying down to be mounted, sidepassing toward and away from you, backing up when you point your finger at him and moving any part of his body with a simple point of your finger.
Under saddle, he is soft and responsive. You’ll never have to ask him twice for anything. He has an easygoing demeanor and is happy to go as fast or slow as you’d like him to go. You can ride Chester with or without a bridle. He stops on a dime exactly when you say whoa, backs up with just the touch of your legs, knows leg cues and sidepasses. He is smooth at all gaits. Simply put, he is an absolute joy to ride.
Come try him out for yourself! Don't hesitate to text or call me anytime if you have any questions.
